Piva Nature Park: places worth exploring
Piva Nature Park brings together the canyons of the Tara, Piva and Sušica, high mountains, forests, pastures and alpine lakes. Some places are reached by a short drive or an easy walk, while others demand serious mountain preparation. Zarisnik and Babina Greda
Zarisnik above Plužine opens a broad view over the town, Piva Lake and surrounding mountains. A marked hiking trail leads uphill, making it a good active addition to a day beside the lake.
Babina Greda is a viewpoint in the Donji Unač area that can be approached by car. Confirm the condition of the final road locally, particularly after rain or outside the main season.
The Stabna Lakes
The Small and Large Stabna Lakes lie in mountain terrain above the village of Stabna. The route continues on foot along a marked trail through forest and clearings. Good footwear, enough water and a realistic return time are essential.
The Piva bridge and Čokovo spring
The road towards Šćepan Polje reveals a different face of Piva: clear river water, steep slopes and the area where the Piva and Tara meet to form the Drina. Routes continue from the bridge towards Čokovo spring, but conditions beside the water can change and require care.
Trnovačko Lake is not a short outing
Trnovačko Lake is one of the region's best-known mountain lakes, but it should not be treated as a quick roadside attraction. Approaching from the Montenegrin side involves several hours of hiking and serious preparation. For a first visit, arranging an experienced guide is the responsible choice.
